Anglers of all levels of casting ability will find the Barrio Mallard a very easy fly line to cast. With their nice supple feel, next to no memory and specially designed tapers, these lines are simply superb and they offer great value for money!

Barrio weight forward floating fly lines continue to be manufactured in their popular pale cream colour, but following some excellent customer feedback over the last couple of years …….. the latest Barrio double taper floating fly lines are now olive.

Barrio fly lines are manufactured for us in the UK to a very high standard and by using computer controlled production systems, we are able to incorporate minute changes within our fly line profiles.

The above chart shows the standard AFFTA specification weights for the first 30 feet of a fly line. These specifications are measured in grains and help to match a fly line to your fly rod.

Apart from the changes in diameter needed to produce the various fly line weights in the range, each of our fly line sizes has an individual profile with different belly and taper lengths. Balanced tapers that keep you in control and flatter your casting!

We designed our Mallard series fly lines for fishing on small stillwaters and rivers, where presentation at short to medium range distances was our prime objective. Our new Barrio Outcast fly line has been designed to go further and incorporates what I feel are the main benefits of both weight forward and double taper fly lines.

The new 140 foot Outcast fly line has superb turnover, which allows large flies to be cast with control even in the lighter line sizes and still provides excellent presentation of small flies when combined with a tapered leader.

Our long, almost continuous rear taper after the relatively short belly and front taper, produces a line that will load a rod well at short range for "off the tip" casts, yet it allows huge lengths of line to be aerialised under control when distance is required.  This design combined with a new high performance coating allows anglers to shoot line from any length that they are comfortable with.

The Barrio Outcast excels at distance and provides a real alternative to other top end distance lines currently on the market, but with one real difference ….. it is a superb fishing line!
